February 2026 Newsletter

Hi everyone,

Firstly — a slightly late but very genuine Happy New Year to you all.

And a big welcome to all the new subscribers who’ve joined recently. It’s great to have you here following the journey.

Although the Pop-Up Gallery at Morpeth Market is taking a winter pause (I’ll be back when things warm up in spring), there’s plenty happening behind the scenes.

Exhibitions

I’m delighted to have three paintings selected for the Northumberland Open Exhibition 2026 at Woodhorn Museum — always a privilege to exhibit in such a strong regional show.

This year the exhibition features over 500 works from artists across the region, so it’s absolutely worth a visit whether you’re coming to see my pieces or simply to immerse yourself in a huge range of styles and ideas.

I’m also part of a joint exhibition titled “Wild Northumberland” at Gallery Forty5 in Felton — a celebration of the landscape and character of this region that continues to inspire my work.

A Different Hat (Judging)

In January I was privileged to be invited to judge the BBC Look North Children in Need Calendar Photo Competition. Seeing the imagination and talent from photographers across the region was genuinely inspiring — and yes, it sharpens the eye when you’re the one doing the judging.

You can see more about that here:https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p0n1nwwf

New Work

( The Stag - Driftwood on Druridge Bay )

90cm x 30cm oil on canvas £490

New pieces are developing in the studio, including a recent painting of driftwood on the beach — weathered, sculptural, and full of quiet presence. There’s something about those found forms against vast open beaches and dunes that keeps pulling me back.

More work is in progress, both studio-based and out in the landscape whenever the weather behaves itself.

YouTube

The YouTube channel continues to grow steadily. I’ve been sharing more behind-the-scenes work, sketchbook flips, and honest process videos — the good, the rough, and the “why did I do that?” moments.

If you’d like to follow along or subscribe:https://www.youtube.com/@NorthumberlandArt

Thank you, as always, for your continued support — whether you visit exhibitions, watch the videos, collect a piece, or simply follow the journey quietly in the background.

Spring isn’t far away.

More soon,

Kenton Northumberland Art

P.S. If you do visit Woodhorn, I’d genuinely love to know which piece caught your eye. Just reply to this email — I read every message.
