Blog Post #1 November 2024

Updated: Nov 20, 2024

Back in 2004 I started selling my art under the name NorthumberlandArt on ebay,

These were simpler times of the internet where your work could be shared and seen easily by interested people. I was also extremely grateful to my friend Tim Mohon who encouraged me to display my work in his shop Gray's of Warkworth* .

I started another business in 2005 and my time given to art gradually got squeezed into ever decreasing pockets of time and although I have continued painting for private commissions and my own pleasure have not actively pushed my creative endeavours nearly enough!

A heart attack a few years ago and general wear and tear on the body has recently made me realise that although in the infancy of my senior years , the next decade or so may not be best spent , renovating houses single handedly and pushing myself to physical breaking point . And what I should be doing is giving more time to my passion ...art.

So it feels like I am starting over again from scratch with my art business, and boy have things changed in the last 20 years. The giant social media platforms that were once a great place to share and connect with like minded people are now swamped with an algorithm of adverts and click bait that means that anything you post online has a lifespan of hours if not minutes .

So going forward , although I will continue to share the occasional image on social media , the very best way to see what I am currently working on will be through my website and newsletter.

This will give me more time to curate my gallery page more regularly and I am experimenting with video for capturing my creative process, which if not educational will be at least entertaining!

If this sounds like something you would like to see, please consider signing up to my newletter. I hate spam as much as the next person , so the newsletter will be bi-monthly and hopefully entertaining and informative and of course unsubscribable !

Thanks for reading my first blog post and I hope to connect with friends and customers more directly in the near future!

Kind regards

Kenton
